Photos from Hà Nội, Ninh Bình and Nam Định

This past weekend, I drove up to Hanoi Friday afternoon and took care of some things I can’t do in Nam Dinh and visited a few friends I hadn’t seen in a while. Saturday morning I continued to drive around on my motorbike, running errands and along the way I took some photos. After that, I drove another 100km south through Ninh Bình State to get to Tam

Happy Halloween: Thermonuclear Annihilation: Rockets Fall on Rocket Falls by Godspeed You! Black Emperor

This is an unofficial music video that someone has edited together from US nuclear bomb test footage from the 1940-50s for the track 'Rockets Fall on Rocket Falls' by post-rock ensemble Godspeed You! Black Emperor.  Even though there is an absence of footage of carnage or people or cities being decimated, it is horrifying to watch.  The music is instrumental which builds and builds which it makes for

AI: Artificial Intelligence, Our Last Invention

The time of Artificial Intelligence has already began but the the of AI dominance is yet to come.  That future will come about in our lifetimes and there is no way to try to comprehend how it will reshape our world and what that will mean for us as a species.  Here are a few interesting videos explaining the possibilities and current applications. UPDATE: Death of the Auto Industry

This piece was recoloured for Pandemic Puzzles a few months ago.  I decided 'Death of the Auto Industry' needed a minor update as a jigsaw puzzle design as the white background of the original would make for a very frustrating puzzle experience.  I added in the colourful blurred background and recoloured the rainbow burst of blood and guts, because the original internal organ explosion was just too cartoony

UPDATE: A Delicate Balance: the Kingdom

G'Day.  This piece has been kicking around for years now and even though I saw it as complete, I am so happy that I give the colour on this one an update.  I had no intentions to do so but when COVID hit and I decided to produce jigsaw puzzles with my artwork I know this needed an refresh because large areas of solid colours do not make

My favourite album of all time, Modest Mouse’s Moon & Antarctic was released 20 years ago today

20 years ago today Modest Mouse released their third album Moon & Antarctic, a sprawling epic folk punk masterpiece. Issac Brocks words moved away from the urban spawl of a west being paved over, dead strip malls, and endless roads and went universal, contemplating the cosmos and our confusing place within them. He looks into his colour TV to get a view of what is outside the window,

UPDATE: David Bowie: Ziggy Stardust on Mars

When I decided to release puzzles, I looked at this Bowie illustration and knew it needed an update and that I could improve upon the original.  I didn't spend much time, but the improvements are huge.  I changed the composition by shifting Bowie up, and the new background is much crisper and surreal looking.  I added a bit more detail to the suit, extended the torso and improved
