Caught in the twirling winds, the limbs and foliage of the Foamcrest Tree churn, bubbling and rolling like waves dragged across a sandy shore. Its enormous trunk is anchored to the Earth but above its leaves never stop moving in the ceaseless breeze of a placid night.

This is the drawing, the first tree, Tree 01: The Foamcrest Tree is the first germination of the Ink Forest. Started at the end of 2019 and even though I have now drawn over 70 unique ink trees, this one is still one of my favourites. It set a high standard for this project; a perfect example of the juxtaposition of form and texture of the tree’s stock/stump/body and the flowing form of the leaves/canopy/foliage above.

Come into the Ink Forest, where I  present each and every tree artwork with a story or a bit of text relating to the drawing itself. This could be about my process, information about the inspiration behind the drawing or a story from my life and travels relating to these images and what inspires them. It could also be paired with a quote, short story or poem either written by myself or from another writer that I think is complementary to the image of the tree. Something that gives more depth and brings life to the static, black and white pen drawing.

For each tree, starting with this one I will release a limited edition of 25 signed and numbered screen prints and a limited edition of one item of clothing.

For the Tree 1: Foamcrest Tree it is a unisex sweatshirt numbered and limited to 25. So once they are sold then there will be no more.
